A Gemini image carries three marks, not one
The sparkle is the one you can see: a small star logo that Gemini draws onto the picture. Whether it appears depends on how you made the image and on Google's current settings, so Google's help pages are the place to check your plan.
The second mark is SynthID, a watermark that Google adds to the pixels of images made with its AI tools. You cannot see it, and it is not a field in the file, so there is nothing to delete. The third is C2PA Content Credentials, a signed record in the file that says how the image was made.
Google's own help says its watermark setting only affects the visible mark, and that SynthID and Content Credentials stay. The same is true of any tool that only removes the sparkle. That is why this page starts with a scan: it shows you which of the three your file actually has before you decide what to do about it.
